Act of Reading, Books and Libraries (Ley de la Lectura, el Libro y las Bibliotecas): emphasises the values of reading and its different contexts, and focuses on the development of reading habits.

Reading Guidance Service(Servicio de Orientación de Lectura): web portal containing a wide range of reading materials and books. It aims to bring together readers (children, youth, parents) and professionals (teachers, librarians, booksellers).

Reading Project for Schools (Proyecto de Lectura para Centros Escolares): supports schools which want to develop a reading programme.

Spanish Reading and Writing Association (Asociación Española de Lectura y Escritura): aims to support and foster the development of reading and writing skills.

Germán Sánchez Ruipérez Foundation (Fundación Germán Sánchez Ruipérez): focuses on educational and cultural activities, namely the dissemination of book culture and reading.
  • International Centre of Advanced Technologies (Centro Internacional de Tecnologías Avanzadas): focuses on the relationship between IT and reading skills. Provides on-line training for teachers on the use of IT technologies in the classroom. 
  • DigitalSchoolLibrary (Biblioteca Escolar Digital): provides support materials for teachers, students and researchers. 

Cervantes Institute (Instituto Cervantes): promotes the Spanish culture and language (along with Spain's other official languages).
  • Cervantes Virtual Centre (Centro Virtual Cervantes): provides a wide range of materials and services to students, teachers and translators on Spanish language and culture.

  • web-portal directed at children, parents and teachers. Provides support and a wide range of materials, activities and good-practice examples to support reading development in childhood and adolescence. 
  • Promotion of reading habits in schools (Fomento del hábito lector en centros docentes): conference series with Spanish writers of different genres, organised in secondary schools and universities in order to bring today's literary creation closer to students and promote their reading habits, encouraged by the authors' vision of their own work. 
  • Awareness actions and collaboration with other institutions (Acciones de concienciación y colaboración con otras instituciones): initiatives aiming at promoting reading habits not only in schools and public libraries or institutions directly related to reading, but also involving other public and private institutions in the development of reading habits.

  • Hay Festival Segovia: international literary festival.
  • Mandarache Programme(Programa Mandarache): fosters reading skills and reading habits through several activities such as the Youth Literary Hache Prize (Premio Hache de Literatura Juvenil; 12-14 years old), theYoung Reader Mandarache Prize (Premio Mandarache de Jóvenes Lectores; 15-30 years old), and Reading Clubs 'Mandarache+30' (Clubs de Lectura 'Mandarache+30'; ›30 years old). 
  • 'MaríaMoliner' Competition(Concurso 'María Moliner'): national competition between municipalities (under 50 000 inhabitants) for the best project/activity developed in libraries to promote reading among children and youth. 
  • Books on the Street (Libros a la Calle): distribution of classical and modern Spanish texts in public transport in the area of Madrid (buses, trains, metro).
